Thoughtful article. I appreciate the journey you took the reader on to get to peek into your life and get to know you. I love the beauty of moments you described and a cotton candy sunset. Nothing so serene that stops you in your tracks. I feel that midlife can do that to you too. Different ways but a common thread. ♥️ I am a new sub for you. I look forward to connecting and supporting one another!
I agree, it can be challenging. I think in midlife, there is a shift from surviving day to day to relishing the moments. Perhaps, somewhere in our deep subconscious, we know our time is fleeting, and this becomes the impetus.
Lovely post! I think it is the community that is present in Substack that is the most valuable. I am a retired educator and it feels similar to the community of a school. As educators, we work hard to provide a sense of family or connection when so many of our students are lacking it.
Laura this comparison stopped me completely because you’re right. The best communities, whether a school or a Substack, are really just people choosing to show up for each other consistently. That’s exactly what I’m trying to build here. Thank you for being part of it.
Chris, you were one of the very first people to show up in my comments, and I haven’t forgotten that. Thank you for coming back to read the full piece. “Opening the door” is exactly what I hoped I would do. That’s everything.
I would love feedback! Thanks for reading.

Thank you, Roseaanne. Thank you for subscribing and I look forward to interacting with you more in the future. I appreciate the support.
I too am trying to shift from just surviving mid life to fully inhabiting it. It's certainly an interesting time of life!

That feeling of hitting publish and wondering what happens next, you captured that well. And the “me too” response is everything.
Thank you for saying so, Denise. I am glad you can relate.

Heartfelt and inspirational. Thank you for sharing your story and opening the door for many wanting a similar connection. Congratulations!

That’s so nice. I’m so glad we’ve made this connection.
Welcome to Substack. Glad you’re here.
Thank you for the warm welcome. I appreciate you making the effort and I look forward to reading your work. ❤️
